No hate at all, just a curious dog loving/objective question... I’ve looked up and compared statistics and learned who the authors of the actual reports given to the CDC are. All five authors are against breed specific legislation, and even then, with a total population of dogs in America, pit bulls make up only 7% but are on average responsible for about 70% of fatal attacks on humans. These dogs are both family/non family dogs and include attacks on a wide demographic variety including victims from babies to the elderly and all races. My aunt recently had her face literally ripped off by her pit bull who she has raised since birth. She is a loving a sweet lady who takes excellent care of her animal family. It was a shock to everyone. Also, quite recently, I witnessed two pit bulls (100% unprovoked) rip a small old dog IN HALF who was minding his own business while walking with his elderly human in a park. The dog was only about fifteen pounds and just prancing along wagging his tail, happy as could be... and they just started mailing him with no warning... It was one of the most horrifying devastating things I’ve ever seen in my life. We were all trying to help the dog and little old man and several of us were injured quite severely in the process... I try to advocate for the breed but from many personal experiences along with statistics graphic reports/videos it seems there is more to it than ONLY the owners... I’ve never felt that about ANY animal I’ve ever encountered in my life but pit bulls seem to be the anomaly. Perhaps there needs to be more breeding regulations to attempt to eliminate whatever gene makes these dogs snap without warning or provocation? I don’t know... I WANT to support the breed and I know the dogs themselves are just innocent animals but that does not make them any less dangerous. What can be done? Help me out here!

They did not mention the details of who is or is not a good candidate for this surgery and why. Why is that? They also had several “experts” telling us to “just get glasses”. This clearly benefits the billion-dollar corrective lens industry. You need new eye exams and new contacts and glasses for a lifetime. That’s a whole lot of money. If you get the surgery, however, you become one less lifetime customer for that industry. As someone who has been chained to glasses and contacts for 40 years, this is ridiculous. I’d wager that some people weren’t good candidates and also visited so-called “LASIK surgery centers” who were using poorly maintained equipment ran by doctors and technicians who should never have been using the equipment in the first place. I’m very skeptical about the 30% statistic they allege.

Working in the optical field I've seen many people have a successful corrective surgery, but I also see people not taking Lasik serious. Lasik is not for everyone. There are different type of procedures and it depends on your eyes. Just because your friend got 20/20 vision doesn't mean you'll get the same results. Do your research, get more than one opinion. Ask about expectations and complications. Make sure your doctor will have follow up visits after your surgery. Your vision can take months to stabilize. For this reason do not gamble with your eyes by going outside the US to have surgery. These are the only eyes you have, your doctor decision should not be based on who is the cheapest.

Yea let’s ban a surgery because someone who had it nearly 20 years ago wasn’t happy. If you’re a good candidate and have a good doctor in 2019 you won’t have issues. I had 20-10 vision a week after my surgery and was back at work after 1 day of recovery.

Another highly suspect news report....... So after 20 years of Lasik and 95% satisfaction rate, we should suddenly take it off the market? Where's the logic in that? And ask yourself, who would this benefit? I bet it was funded by the eye glasses industry. And I'll bet the two people with side effects were never good candidates for Lasik to begin with. People need to recognize when the media and interest groups are manipulating them. Just because a Jewish doctor says it on TV doesn't mean it's true. What did the news guys say at the end? "The reason I've got glasses on"" Pure propaganda!

I've had Lasik surgery almost 20 years ago and I can say for me it was almost miraculous. My nearsightedness was so acute I was practically. My glasses lenses were huge and my eyes were starting to reject contact. I hear all the time these complaints about Lasik surgery and all I can say is it is a problem of American doctors. I've had friends and family members who went through the surgery and I haven't heard one complaint. But it seems to me a lot of doctors in the US aren't doing their job.

I had it done 16 years ago by the "BEST" eye surgeon. It was horrible. I had pre surgery screening where I had the surgery done, and they said I was a good candidate. From the moment it was done I had pain and terribly dry eyes. My eye doctor, who took care of post laser eye surgery patients realized I was allergic to the eye drops I was given and switched me to non-preservative drops, which did not help. On top of the dry eyes and pain, one of my eyes was blurry, and I'd have to wait three months to have it done again. My eye doctor saw me many times over that three month period, but the dry eyes, pain, halo I was seeing, and star burst eye sight I had at night did not get any better. I couldn't stand the poor eye sight in that eye, so after three months I actually went back and had the surgery done to that eye again. It improved to some degree, but it has never improved enough. I was ready to rip the eyes out of my head to get some relief from the dryness and pain. The surgeon who did the procedures told me after the fact that my eyes were "a little dry" before the surgery, but he did the surgery anyway. It took more than a year for the dryness and pain to subside enough for me to get through the day without "feeling" my eyes. To this day, 16 years later, the eye that I had done twice still has so so vision, and it is still a little dry. I've had many eye checkups since having the surgery done, and eye doctors cannot tell that I had anything done to my eyes, and they are perfectly healthy, but the vision in my left eye is just acceptable and still slightly dry after having the procedure done twice all those years ago. Any time anyone ever asks me if they should have laser eye surgery I tell them NO. Don't ever do it. Wear glasses that will give you great vision, and be happy your eyes don't hurt. I wish could go back and stop myself from doing this.
