More clickbait. If you think this dev insulted you personally it's probably because you're an asshat and a freeloader. It's free to play. Stfu and either play and uninstall. DEV didnt say anything wrong and if your feelings are hurt get some aloe vera.

Hey guess what? The devs are right. Most players nowadays are entitled even when its a free to play game. What more do ya’ll want? You could dish it out to the devs but can’t handle it when they do it to you? How about grow up.

I believe the reason why players bite back at devs so hard these days is probably because they are all reaching their boiling point and tired of being screwed over so much over the years. That is just my opinion. It just feels like game companies just want to see how far they can push to get the most profit then once they go too far they reel it in a tiny bit, problem is they have been doing this for a long time now and it just keeps getting worse.
LazySnorlax - 2 months ago
There was a good response to the dev saying they "remember when players weren't dicks" on reddit, as someone said "was it when cosmetic events weren't $200 dollars". Disappointed that IG didnt cover that part

Another game company who puts profits before the community thats a quick way to end up in the f2p grave yard see the business model should be simple ergonomic and fair not a get rich scheme what you think people will pay for a game thats more expensive then fortnite the game that will clearly outlast you like i keep saying a lootbox that is 25 cents and is 100% tradable is the future.

Free to play game that doesn't fuck over players and still makes money: Warframe.
You can get basically everything in the game without buying anything. Only thing is Prime Packs which come with exclusive cosmetics as well as the newest character and weapons and the same amount of in game currency that you normally get for said price. And you can still get those weapons and character without buying them. It's just those specific cosmetics that are exclusive. You don't have to buy anything to get anything besides those special cosmetics. There is no "play to win", most cosmetics you can get without paying actual money. You can trade for in game currency, you don't have to buy that either. I've still spent a few hundred bucks on Warframe though, and never felt cheated or that it wasn't worth it. No Loot boxes, no random weapon drops. If you want a certain weapon or cosmetic, you can work toward building that specific item and feel accomplished when you do.

Devs handled this quite poorly. Also... Yea $20 for a skin is absurd. Loot boxes suck and players would prefer buying skins directly but 20 fkn bucks?

Lets just assume Apex was a $60 game and you would need $100 instead to obtain the axe...
That is still an unreseasonable price

Can somebody explain to me whats the difference between a liar and a bullshitter? I never understood how people seem to think its scathing when they refer to someone in one insult but then proceed to use the same insult with a different word as if the two words meant two different things.

Okay so he's not a bullshitter. But he's a liar? (as well as a list of obviously false claims that demerits the point even more).

When I encounter this I'm usually baffled at how stupid it is, that I don't wanna interact with it anymore. Often being read by the simpleton as being outspoken with their big brain. Rendering me even more done with the situation.

That's why even tho I stopped playing it Ive always respected fortnite and I've always been of the mindset that the hate is unwarranted, epic games even tho they were miles ahead of the competition they didn't try to take avantage of thier fanbase but they actually did the opposite by updating the game every week and listening to the community, also for a free to play game fortnite is not that predatory giving u the option to get the battle pass for free after a few sessions or just spend the v bucks on something else

I thought microtransactions were “okay” in Apex bc it was free to play lol. Man than narrative changed quick.
LazySnorlax - 2 months ago
I think it's less microtransactions are bad in AL, and more that considering that to get the heirloom set item, players needed to pay 175 dollars to unlock the choice to buy the axe for an additional 35. That's a pretty outrageous price even for a f2p game
TripleCrown757 - 2 months ago
This whole thing is so dumb. Yes the devs shouldn’t have insulted their core player base like that, but apex legends is a free to play game who rely on cosmetics to make a profit. Cosmetics do not affect the gameplay. So I don’t understand why players make such a big deal over an overpriced cosmetic item. If you aren’t happy with the price then don’t buy it and move on because it’s how a free to play game makes money to continue to developing the game

What about the real problems that no one seems to be talking about after the update:

-Over priced axe that you get the option to pay for after getting all the event micro-transactions;

- Lack luster skins the community has said multiple times, from the start, are not really worth the price tag;

-The apology from the CEO of Respawn that said they were getting death threats where, at least when I was in the dumpster fire that was the "discussion," did not seem to happen (personal attacks yes, death threats not from what I saw);

-The quote on quote sales that aren't really sales due to the fact that you always have to buy a set amount of coins;

-Server issues that still plague this game and that don't seem to get any better while the develops work on more micro-transactions;

-Useless crow currency that can just get you boring banners and maybe only one nice skin for a gun that, in my opinion, people don't really care about;

-The fact that 90% of the time you cant see a skin that you have the option to buy for 18$ (a price that exceeds some other other free to play games that change more of the character's look such as in terms animations & voices)

-The extreme grind that you have to go through in such a short amount of time, due to the events life span, that will give you the chance to only get 2 Apex Packs that are not just loaded with the new skins & other products, but also filled with the aforementioned useless crown currency (making that much harder to get the things you might want in those packs)

Look, cus I know many people are going to say this, I know it is a free-to-play game. This is a game that I myself have sent $60 on to applaud the amazing game play that comes with Apex (and to get the chance of getting 3 skins that I personally believed where the only ones worth anything at the start of the games launch). In my opinion , however, the prices are pretty bad for single skins, that again for the most part, don't look very good (except for the recent ones, and even then are still pretty pricey). I hope at some point Respawn, at the very least, acknowledges the above issues.
Valdarious - 2 months ago
heh, and look how much free advertising they are getting by bringing it all up, lol. I seriously doubt anyone is leaving the game after what they said. I have never played the game myself but it seems pretty popular.

I'll also say that many gamers' frustration, anger and negative attitude these days has been caused by AAA publishers and their greed.🤑 Go back 10 years and show me games with such egregious monetization schemes. Things weren't this bad back then and I can't fault people for expressing their distaste towards games that include stuff like lootboxes "surprise mechanics" aka gambling and $18 digital goods that have no real world value.😑 I'd be pissed too if a game was no longer trying to be fun and instead trying to grab money out of my wallet every chance it got. So, yeah gamers are more angry and vocal especially since now you can get right up in devs' faces and call them out on their BS. This Apex disaster was just the latest in the line of money hungry execs wanting to squeeze as much dough out of consumers as possible.💰💰💰 Personally, I try and be smarter about my gaming purchases as I'm not willing to support companies that put profits before a fun gaming experience. 😒

1. Thank you for telling people "how to act" on BOTH sides... (people don't have to be so toxic and devs - as representatives of a company - should never be negative to customers, as with all businesses...)

2. I think that game companies should always have a 'PR Dept.' to deal with the general public, not have Devs interact directly (maybe post Reactions/Updates/etc only) - the reason? Devs work hours on end, putting in their own sweat into something, then get yelled at because it's 'not something else', which is detrimental to their emotional/psychological well being - they should not have to deal with that (as Developers/Programmers) a PR department (with Trained/Educated Staff) should always be the front/face of a company, taking all the crap in and saying thank you while smiling.

I don’t feel bad for them one bit. This freemium economy has spiraled out of control.
Fortnite (along with several other games) found ways to amass millions without being overzealous with monetization.
Apex didn’t build up a free-to-play game proper and just assumed overpriced skins would be purchased without anyone batting an eye.

When you're doing straight-to-consumer conversation you have to be aware that for many people, PR talk is just disingenuous and they will speak their mind directly to you (you explicitly gave them the platform for that!). When the majority of gamers believe that EA is a soulless corporate cash-grabbing machine, whoever has to communicate HAS to be aware of that fact and that it WILL be said directly to you.

Why didnt you read out any of the reddit users who made good point ? I read the treads and yoy do the normal thing ignore the trolls and read the upvoted stuff ,most od the comments made excellent points about the cost or the skins and pricing points
stateofhibernation - 2 months ago
Idk i don't mind spending money on a game to support it especially when i get it for free. but $20 for a skin feels a bit much for me. that's 1/3 the price of a new game for one item and to buy everything is nearly the price of buying 3 new games for not as much content. it's not that spending $20 is a lot to me, but it's a lot all at once for one skin. if it were cheaper to get, lets say $5 means you'd get 4 items for that same cost of $20. if it feels cheaper you'd be more inclined to purchase, it's also easier for kids (lets face it kids play this game too even with ratings) to ask their parents for a few bucks rather than a full $20.

Wait until the 14 year olds grow up and buy a car... you think a battle pass or purchasable skins are bad? Let me tell you about service plan A, B and C, gas every time you want to use your $60k purchase and the insurance that the govt forces you to buy in case you make a mistake. People complaining about in game purchases for a free game are sickening

She's not perfect—you aren't either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can.
