Any particular brand for those carbide porting tips?
patt20b - 28 days ago
Hey guys I see all the inlet porting you guys have done. But I see you have done no exhaust porting. You know that your engine is going to hit a brick wall at high rpm. And it’s going to lag like shit. I’m a nobody but I have been playing with rotaries all my life and I know how to get power and life out of all my 20b’s and 13b’s. If you ever want to chat? Here is my email address p_dilger@hotmail.com.

people into rotaries have always been a fuckin cool bunch. you can just internet up a porting template and bam, go to town on your setup. its litterally the polar oposite of the secret sauce bigblock guys. youll never get a peep out of them about cam specs or any of the shit they do, because they want you to buy their "race" motors and shit . so shoutout to rotary guys fot bein dope.

I don't know shit about rotary engines but same should apply with any combustion engine although fi is not as picky as carb engines are when it come to texture of ports. In my experience if you polished your intake side of a head you won't get proper atomization of the fuel. I have ported many heads, intakes, exhaust manifolds, even throttle body's. But to get back to runners i have seen next to no gains even polishing the exhaust side of a head to a mirror finish, may have been a few scf but wasnt enough to see any improvement on ET. Again i know this isnt a piston engine but anyone at home wanting to take a stab at porting (heads) should spend there time on the bowl area's as that is where you will see real grains, cleaning runners and port matching can have a small effect if its a very bad cast, usually you wont see much gain from the port alone unless you are hoging that sucker out. But, remember its not all about flow numbers, without the velocity you will have a dog under stay 4-5000rpm etc.

So I'm guessing were working on the exhaust port? Since you wouldn't want to polish a intake
thebr0wnhornet - Month ago
Comparing this to brad’s shrunken exhaust manifold should tell you who’s going to win

So what does porting do some one explain
Hector Soto
Hector Soto - Month ago
its like porting a cylinder head, better airflow to the chamber. and the same time its like a cam thats why go BRAP BRAP BRAP, bigger port more loud and better sound look for more info, i literally explain it to you the way my father told me so i don't know if this can help you

So porting it allows more fuel to come into the engine?
MyChingling - Month ago
Nick not fuel, more air in and out of the engine

Building a rotary:
Talk about easy. They really are legos. Actually they are more like that toy you had as a kid where you fit the circle into the circle slot and the square in the square slot. Except you are fitting triangles into ovals and everything is on fire.

Why didnt you just put the template on and then use the sharpie...port until the sharpie is gone. Way faster and more accurate

It's relatively easy after you've done it a few times. Practice on junk irons and housings. The first few attempts might work, but might not work well.
leroy420b - Month ago
All this work and it's still just a 2 stroke... Does anyone actually make a rotary that doesn't need to have oil added to its fuel????
Benjamin Franklyn
Benjamin Franklyn - Month ago
Racing boats with LS get extra oil squirts to help the piston cool since the boats are always on on the red limiter. There is a video on YT of LS Boat motor being rev over 10 min or close and didn't blow up or worned a piston ring or damage the block.
Benjamin Franklyn
Benjamin Franklyn - Month ago
Rotary aren't really 2t stroke they act like it,and it has oil in engine. Is just for safe measurements. Any car with high horse power and high compression need more oil to be squirt to help the piston cool but a rotary is more of a easier slide since running high fuel injectors burnes all the oil around the housing and friction will start melting apes seals.

Ive done tons of heads and using a 90° die grinder for removing large amounts of material is kinda a no-no because of the lack of control side to side ...... I still like that car they're building tho!
